This is an excerpt from my first book, the story of my grandmother, Bernice Lieberum. We worked on it together while she was under hospice care, and I was able to distribute copies to all her friends and family at the service in celebration of her long, happy life.

Unlike the other books showcased here, this book is written as a third-person narrative. It was created as a tribute to the life of Mary Louise Hanson, a year or two after she passed away. We worked from some tapes made by her grandson and interviewed a variety of friends and relatives to tell this inspiring story.

This is an excerpt from the life story of a woman who succumbed to breast cancer at age 49. She had two young daughters, and was naturally very concerned about leaving them without a mother's guidance. To help them cope with the struggles they would face in their approaching adolescence, she wanted to give them some anecdotes from her own adventures as a girl, told with the humor and perspective of her later years.

This book, based on interviews with a brother and sister in their seventies, offers a charming view of one family's experiences during the early years of dairy farming in Oregon. The family made a small number of hardbound copies for close associates, and gave away the spiral-bound copies at an anniversary celebration.
